COPD Rescue Pack Information

Here’s how to use your rescue pack if your symptoms worsen — please follow your action plan carefully:
Increase your reliever inhaler (short-acting bronchodilator) as needed.
Start the steroid tablets (Prednisolone) if breathlessness is interfering with your daily activities.
Add the antibiotic if your sputum changes colour, becomes thicker, or increases in volume compared to your usual pattern.
Let the GP surgery know as soon as you start your rescue pack.

Important reminders:
Antibiotics can sometimes cause side effects such as diarrhoea, nausea, or rash.
Complete the full course once started. Symptoms might not completely resolve by the end of the antibiotic course.
Please seek medical help if:
symptoms deteriorate rapidly/significantly, or do not improve within a few days of starting antibiotics, or if you begin to feel generally unwell or feverish
